Update

So I haven't posted any of my goals this past week, but I've been living up to them. The Lakers were swept out of the playoffs, which was crushing, but has left me with loads of free time over the next two months. Fate works in mysterious ways.

I recently passed the 30,000 word mark on the story I am writing right now, which is always a huge milestone for me. 30,000 words is around 100 double-spaced pages of fairly dense prose. Making it this far usually means that I am going to see a project through to completion.

I think I will cut this short here. It is late, and I just wanted to check in and update my status. Hopefully I'll be able to look back at this a few months down the road and smile, finished book in hand!

Daily Goal: Friday, May 6th, 2011

This worked yesterday, so let's see if I can keep it going.

It's Friday, and there are bound to be plenty of distractions after work tonight (including a Lakers game that I am absolutely dreading given the stakes involved), but I feel like I can still manage 1500 words if I really put my heart into it.

As yesterday, I'll be back at the end of the day with the thrilling results.

To victory!

Edit:

So the Lakers game went really, really bad. It's hard to express the idiotic amount of energy I put into rooting for that team. That said, I managed to pull myself out of the pits of despair in order to write the last 400 words I needed to make my daily goal, so I must be on the right track with this plan.

Daily Goal: Thursday, May 5th, 2011

It's time to start blogging my daily goals. I feel like if I set short term goals, I'll have quicker success with my long-term plans.

Today's goal is 1500 words before I go to bed. Not terribly ambitious, but I'm working full time right now, and moving stuff all around the apartment, so it's reasonably challenging, I think.

I have Ultra High Speed internet now (as opposed to ultra unreliable signal fishing), so I'll check back later tonight to report on how I did.

Update:

Mission Accomplished! 1519 words complete. I'm exhausted though, so God only knows what the writing on the homestretch looks like. I think it's time to hit the sack and prepare myself for another full day tomorrow!
